October Half-Term 2016
What an amazing start to the school year. We have been blessed with a wonderful group of pupils from all over the world who are here to learn and have fun. The boarding community has been extremely busy this half term with sport, trips and academic challenges.
Our boarder’s welcome weekend included ten pin bowling and a formal meal with house photos.
This year’s boarding community challenge is based or board games, time spent with friends that does not include anything electronic is a challenge for many teenagers but it has proved to be a success and there has been much fun and laughter for those who have taken part. This challenge runs from September to April and there will be prizes for individuals you have played the most games.
The boarding activities this half term have included the ever popular paintballing, followed by the exciting climbing wall centre, sightseeing and shopping in York, a cinema trip and a visit to Whitby with fish and chips on the beach, followed by scones and cream on the Yorkshire Moors in the afternoon.
Sport and fitness have been gaining in popularity since the beginning of the term, encouraged by the new boarder’s running club at 6am every morning organised by Mr Jackson, football for boys and girls on Friday evenings and free Zumba classes on Saturday mornings.
The whole school ended the half term on a fun note raising money for Cancer Research with Pink Day, where the silliest outfit was the aim of the day.
